M. Louise Smith is a native Texan with an insatiable love of the Texas Gulf Coast, a fact that she seems unable to keep from infiltrating the lives or locales of her characters or her various art projects. An avid and adventurous writer, her topics cover a variety of genres.

She combined majors of studio art and communication at the University of Colorado, and holds a design certification from the New York School of Interior Design.  She managed  her own firm, Studio Fifty-One Interiors in Colorado Springs, Colorado which focused on historic renovation and commercial interiors for ten years before relocating to Houston, Texas.

Her work in corporate advertising and marketing in the cosmopolitan cities of Houston and Austin, as well as extensive travel, provided her with a great deal of fodder for her novels.

Now back home in Colorado, when she is not writing, Smith spends her time consulting on interior renovation projects, creating Raku clay sculptures that she exhibits in various shows, manipulating or painting found objects and shoes, and enjoying time with her four adult children and grandchildren.

Smith and her architect husband currently live in Loveland, Colorado.
